The Dinner Plate that will change your Picky Eater's life

I was an extremely picky eater as a child, largely existing off of mayonnaise cheese sandwiches and Mac & Cheese. I still to this day remember sitting at the table just staring at the food on my plate, hoping it would disappear or I dream up a way to sneak it into the garbage. Knowing the damage that can be done when food is forced, (still to this day I personally have a horrible relationship with food and have dealt with a eating disorder on and off) I want to help those with this very same struggle by offering a healthier, much more gentle way to incorporate food into your picky eater’s life.

After having my own kiddos, I made it a point to offer and introduce all types of foods to them when they were little. Thinking that this would help by pass those picky little taste buds. Well it worked with my first, but not my second. My youngest even when first introduced to new foods would spit it out, unless it was the more sweeter based fruit type foods. This momma tried so hard to get him to eat the veggies, but he just wouldn’t have any part in it. Trust me I tried every darn thing, except for the thing that worked (which I could never figure out.) I even thought I could out smart him by mixing in those green veggies with the fruit. Let’s just say that only worked once and never again. These kiddos are way too smart!!

My now 4 year old, is still picky, maybe even worse, sometimes he can go a full day without eating if we don’t give him a food item we know he will eat. His go-to’s are fruit snacks. Fruit Loops, Lucky Charms, chocolate milk and the occasional pepperoni pizza. Do you see the trend? SUGAR SUGAR SUGAR!

Not going to lie, most days it’s just easier for me to give into him because my mooma heart can’t handle knowing he is hungry. With that said, I have been doing some research, looking for solutions and/or tips, even more tricks, to help get my little picky eater more nourishment without sacrificing his relationship with food. In doing so, I found this cute little picky eater “Winner Dinner” plate on Amazon

(Find Plate HERE)

Thankful for Amazon prime. I couldn’t wait to get this “Magic” plate to fix all my picky eater struggles.

How it works:

You place small pieces or small amounts of food into each slot, creating a game like feel allowing for your toddlers to see where the finish line is. At the end, you put in a secret treat or fun surprise, but don’t reveal what it is unless they have officially ate everything up till that point. It defiantly makes eating with your picky eater a little more fun and a lot less stressful.

OK now for my honest most real review:

It wasn’t 100% , however, my little did eat more and tried a few foods that he normally wouldn’t even put near his mouth. This plate isn’t magic, but it’s a work in progress. I have to say, it even held me accountable on not giving him a “Treat" because he didn’t finish. Also to my surprise, he actually sat down at the dinner table to eat the food. However, I still got a little bit of a fight, but he ended up giving in and eating most that was on the plate. All and all, I would recommend this plate to any other momma’s or parents with this same struggle as an option to help in cracking that picky eater code.
